Whole Foods Boycott Interest Grows

As I stated in my previous post, I stopped shopping at Whole Foods a long time ago because of too high of prices.  When they were the only game in town for organic food they charged unreasonably high prices.  Now all of the local grocery stores in my area have organic foods, including quite a bit at Costco.  So that is the main reason I won’t shop there any more. They simply are too expensive.

Now the New York Times is reporting a nationwide shopping rebellion at Whole Foods.  They report that the first rule of business is to know your customers.   Most of Whole Foods customers apparently are staunch liberals in favor of health care legislation.  Oops!

A Look Back: Don’t You John Edwards Apologists Feel Stupid Right Now?

Bertrand Russel is often quoted as having said, “The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.”

Personally, I may not always succeed, but I try to keep an open mind about things, especially anything I read in the paper. Bizarre ideas and rumors often end up being true. At various times people have thought the world was flat, the sun revolved around the earth, machines could never fly and that Lisa Marie Presley could not have possibly married Michael Jackson. They were all wrong.

It is interesting that based on recent events, the National Enquirer story about John Edwards seems to be true and John Edwards seems to have been a bald faced liar.

In hindsight, truly intelligent people may have been skeptical about the National Enquirer, but would not have dismissed the story as an impossibility. Thanks to the Internet, we can know look back in time many months and find out who kept an open mind, and who was dead wrong and totally gullible to John Edwards lies.

For a look back see

The LA Times comments from an article about the Edwards affair printed last October.

The people who time proved were correct made comments like:

“I would be shocked if Edwards did NOT have the affair.”

“I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss the Enquirer. They have broken several high profile stories in the last few years.”

I won’t print the comments here of the people who now look like idiots, but you can visit the site and read them for yourself. They are all of the people who support John Edwards without question and called the LA Times sleazy for even reporting the rumors of the affair.

Hindsight and Internet archives can create some pretty entertaining stuff.

It’s Official, Christine Whitman is Now the Worst EPA Leader Ever

A federal judge blasted Christine Whitmen, former Environmental Protection Chief during the 9/11 attacks on the twin towers, for telling New Yorkers it was safe to return to their homes and offices even while toxic dust was polluting their neighborhoods.  In an unusual move the judge allowed a class action law suit to proceed against the EPA as well as Whitman personally, calling Whitmans actions “conscience-shocking”, since Whitman was well aware of the toxic hazards being released into the air.

The Smoking Gun Report on James Frey

For all of you who have been living in a cave these past few weeks, The Smoking Gun has a great expose on James Frey, called “A Million Little Lies”. I’m not surprised that the book contains lies. I’m surprised that anyone who read a book authored by an admitted alcoholic, drug abuser and criminal would be shocked to find out that the man is also a liar.

Why did Oprah defend the book in a call to Larry King’s show, get the author to come on her show and then attack him for lying? What’s Oprah’s problem? Did she lure James Frey with faux support just to get him on her show in order to then attack him? What’s with that?

I like Jon Stewart’s comment from the daily show on the whole matter, ” Just wait until Oprah finds out Dr. Phil is also full of cr@p.”
